Auttendo is the same workspace wherever you open it. Installing it gives you
its own icon and its own window, and lets your computer notify you when
something new lands in your inbox.

You sign in the same way everywhere: type your work email, then the six-digit
code we send you.

## On your phone

Auttendo installs straight from the browser — there is no app store download.

1. **Open Auttendo in your phone's browser**

Go to [os.auttendo.com](https://os.auttendo.com) in Safari on iPhone or
    iPad, or Chrome on Android.

2. **Add it to your home screen**

In Safari, tap **Share**, then **Add to Home Screen**. In Chrome, tap the
menu, then **Add to Home screen** or **Install app**.

3. **Open it from the home screen**

Auttendo opens with its own icon and no browser bar. Sign in with a code
once and you stay signed in between visits.

## On your computer

1. **Download Auttendo**

Get the Mac or Windows download from
    [auttendo.com/download](https://auttendo.com/download).

2. **Install and open it**

On a Mac, open the downloaded disk image and drag Auttendo into
Applications. On Windows, run the installer; Auttendo opens by itself when
    it finishes.

3. **Sign in with a code**

Type your work email in the app and enter the code we send you. Auttendo
keeps you signed in when you quit and reopen it.

Auttendo keeps itself up to date. When a new version is ready it downloads in
the background and asks whether you want to restart.

### Open the desktop app from your browser

If you are already signed in at [os.auttendo.com](https://os.auttendo.com),
you do not have to type a second code. Open the account menu and choose **Open
in desktop app**. Auttendo opens on your computer already signed in as you.

That link works once and lasts a minute. If you see that it has expired, go
back to your browser and choose **Open in desktop app** again.

Signing out in one place signs you out of the other, because both are the same
session.

## Notifications on your computer

The desktop app can tell you when something new arrives in your inbox, even
when Auttendo is behind another window.

1. **Turn notifications on**

Go to **Settings → Notifications** and turn on **Show notifications on this
device**. Your computer will ask for permission the first time.

2. **Click a notification to open it**

Clicking a notification brings Auttendo forward on the conversation it came
    from.

This is a setting for the device you are using, so turning it on at your desk
does not start notifying your laptop. Your inbox still shows everything either
way, and your email preference is separate.

Notifications arrive within about half a minute of the activity itself.
